April 21-29, 2004 A delegation of Ministry of Commerce of China visited Brasil. GASENE was listed as one of the major governmental cooperation projects.
May 2004 SINOPEC and PETROBRAS signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement. GASENE was listed as one of the major projects.
September 6, 2004 Brazil's Minister of Mines & Energy visited China and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Commerce of China. At the same time, PETROBRAS, SINOPEC and Import & Export Bank of China jointly signed also a MOU regarding cooperation on GASENE project.
November 2004 Mr. Hu Jintao, President of China, visited Brazil. Together with President Lula, he attended the ceremony of GASENE Cooperation Agreement.
December 2004 GASENE Project team was established by SINOPEC with its members working at both China and Brazil.
March 2005 SINOPEC INTERNATIONAL PETROLEUM SERVICE DO BRASIL LTDA (SINOPEC BRASIL) was legally established in Brazil. Mr. Zuo Yaojiu, Vice President of Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corp. was appointed President of SINOPEC BRASIL.
July 2005 GASENE was divided into GASCAV & GASCAC. GASCAV was started first with SINOPEC as the EPC Contractor. (GASCAC still under negotiation)
March 2006 PETROBRAS gave up the common Export Buyer's Credit from China, but still it granted GASCAV to Sinopec, which was 303km long.
April 17, 2006 The EPC Contract of GASCAV was formally signed by and between SINOPEC SERVICE, Transportadora GASENE S.A and PETROBRAS.
June 9, 2006 PETROBRAS issued the Authorization of Service for GASCAV Project.
June 10, 2006 The first-weld ceremony of GASCAV was held by PETROBRAS. President Lula and relevant ministers, governors of Espírito Santo, mayor of Vitoria, the Ambassador of China to Brasil, the General Consul of China in Rio and many important guests attended the ceremony. Mr. Zhang Yaocang, Vice President of SINOPEC Group and some GASENE project team leaders attended the ceremony.
February 1, 2007 PETROBRAS decided to cancel SINOPEC's qualification as EPC Contractor of GASCAC due to China's delay of preferential loans for more than 6 months.
April 2007 Chinese government approved officially China Development Bank's participation in GASCAC taking place of the Import & Export Bank of China.
July 2007 GASCAC negotiation between PETROBRAS & SINOPEC re-started.
December 27, 2007 The EPC Contract of GASCAC was signed officially in the office building of BENDES.
January 21, 2008 SINOPEC completed signing of all subcontracts for GASCAC.
February 1, 2008 GASCAV was mechanically completed and started up with natural gas.
February 19, 2008 The start-up ceremony was held at TIM station. President Lula and the Ambassador of China to Brasil attended the ceremony. Mr. Zuo Yaojiu attended the ceremony on behalf of SINOPEC.
February 29, 2008 PETROBRAS issued the Authorization of Service for GASCAC.
May 9, 2008 The first-weld ceremony of GASCAC was held at CATU (spread 3B). President Lula, the General Consul of China in Rio attended the ceremony. Mr. Zuo Yaojiu attended the ceremony on behalf of SINOPEC.
June 29, 2008 Mr. He Guoqiang, one of the national leaders of China, visited Sinopec Brasil.
July 11, 2008 PETROBRAS issued the Temporary Acceptance Certificate for GASCAV, meaning that the project started its 1-year guarantee period.
September 20, 2008 PETROBRAS awarded SINOPEC SERVICE and SINOPEC BRASIL the "Best Performance Project" for GASCAV, giving high appraisal for progress, QHSE and cost control of the Project.
October 1, 2008 Mr. Zhou Yuan, Vice President of SINOPEC Group, visited SINOPEC BRASIL.
February 20, 2009 Mr. Su Shulin, President of SINOPEC, visited SINOPEC BRASIL and gave an important speech to encourage all Chinese and Brazilian employees to "achieve everlasting development through unremitting efforts".
February 16 - March 3, 2009 Mr. Liu Jinxin, President of SINOPEC SERVICE, led a group of 4 to visit all construction sites along the whole line of GASCAC. They travelled more than 2000 kilometers by car and met with all SINOPEC employees on site as well as site representatives of Petrobras and subcontractors. During his visit, he gave important instructions about how to work better and achieve sustainable development in Brazil as required by Mr. Su Shulin.
