Horizontal Drilling in Brazil

SINOPEC has more than 10 years of experience in Horizontal Drilling. It has 3 heavy drilling equipment that can work in oil pipelines, gas pipelines and aqueducts of up to 1200mm diameter and in electric cables and optic fiber works. Its performance in works spread out in 16 provinces and autonomous regions in China and in countries such as Sudan and Brazil. SINOPEC finished more than 250 horizontal drilling works of several pipes with different diameters, reaching the accumulated length of 85.300 ml.

In Brazil, SINOPEC uses the American-type drilling machine, model DD-625 and complementary parts. It successfully concluded the crossing of eight rivers and gained a vast experience in directional drilling, proving its capacity of working in complex terrains. SINOPEC has technologies such as: Method of Artificial Magnetization, change of crossing’s developed extension, double column pull in (main pipe and ancillary pipe for optic fiber) of long extension in the same hole, rock crossings, etc.

SINOPEC has engineers specialized in several disciplines and drilling machine operators, which sum up to almost 100 professionals. It has the capacity of performing works in compliance with API and all the strict Brazilian environmental laws. SINOPEC received several compliments from IBAMA (Brazilian Ministry of the Environment’s Enforcement Agency) for the works executed in permanent protection areas.

The team has as its main goals to comply with all the contractual clauses, obtain good economic benefits and build up a highly competent team, besides valuing aspects such as: avoiding risks and promoting education activities regarding safety and technical training programs for its employees. We have adopted the “internationalize the brand and use local workforce” strategy to build up SINOPEC brand for crossing works in Brazil and pursue a mutual gain scenario; therefore, walking towards a future development.
